The Building Church Academy is a training project founded and led by Stephen Matthew who functions as its Principal and Ministry Director.
Stephen is supported by a small faculty and a wider group of experienced pastors and church builders who serve alongside the faculty as occasional guests and are happy to be recommended by Stephen to specific churches on a relational basis.

Stephen Matthew is a gifted Bible teacher, author and committed church-builder with well over 35 years of experience in Christian ministry. The communication of truth with clarity is his passion, which is reflected in his practical, insightful and equipping teaching style.
Stephen served as Senior Associate Pastor of LIFE Church UK in Bradford, for many years, which remains his home, but today he spends most of his time as a speaker and hands-on strategist serving churches across Europe and beyond.
He was the Founding Principal of LIFE Church College, where he still teaches, as well as being a guest lecturer at a number of Bible Colleges in Europe.
Stephen delivers the core curriculum supported by a team of appropriately skilled and experienced pastors and leaders from across the UK.

Mike McMahon
Mike has over 30 years of experience as a leader, pioneer, evangelist and church planter. He currently serves as Lead Pastor of Urban Church Warrington, a church he pioneered in 2009. Mike is a gifted communicator, encourager and experienced business coach, with a passion to unlock the gold in every life.

Rachel serves on the senior leadership team of Today’s Community Church, Wigan, where she has responsibility for leadership pathways and the development of discipleship vehicles. She is an inspirational and much-loved communicator who brings a wealth of practical experience to her teaching.
David Belfield
David Belfield
David is the Senior Leader of Today’s Community Church, Wigan, where he has served for over 25 years as a passionate advocate for whole life discipleship. His church building efforts have created a destination for the town of Wigan from which the whole region now benefits.
